Safe #17
I was high, sitting on stars. I could breathe, I could contemplate, I could realize, I could meditate, I could express, I could build, I could pretend, I could sing, I could forget, I could reminisce, I could be.
Anything
And I was. I was all that. I was above it all and still looking up. I forgot yesterday, I forgot mom, I forgot money problems, cold sores, scratchy sweaters, heavy groceries, late fees, overdue books, mint blue toothpaste stuck to the bottom of the bathroom sink
I was unaware of the world. I had no feet, I became invisible, I was painted in gold, and my fingers spun like snowflakes, my emotions undaunted, my nerves entangled everything, without worry or despair, without fear of rape, harm, or hunger.
